"We convened our large family reunion by renting three homes near Lake Sinissippi, using The Prairie House as our principal site for meals and congregating.  Every aspect of The Prairie House was delightful, from the spacious rooms and the grand view of the surrounding countryside, to the elegant décor and well-equipped kitchen.  Our host went out of her way to make sure that we had access to everything we needed, from local recreation and restaurants, to babysitters (!) and a portable crib for the youngest member of our group.  We recommend The Prairie House strongly and without reservation!  In fact, we are now thinking up reasons to return to Lake Sinissippi so that we can stay there again."

Our group of nine longtime friends reunite every few years and were lucky to find the Sullivans' amazing property, which was the perfect place to relax, cook and explore the beautiful surroundings. The house had everything we could ask for, and more. We especially appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, which we fully utilized. We also enjoyed going for long walks on the property, boating on the lake and sitting around the fire pit in the evenings. Laurie was a pleasure to work with before, during and after our visit. She did everything possible to ensure that we had all that was needed. She even offered us fresh herbs and asparagus from her garden, which is located next to the house. One afternoon, we made the short drive to Kettle Moraine forest for a hike. Shopping at the nearby Piggly Wiggly was convenient. With that said, the property has so much to offer that you might never leave! I hope to return to Prarie House in the future and recommend you consider booking for your next group vacation. :)

We spent an extended Easter weekend at Prairie House. Five generations gathered to celebrate my wife's birthday and Easter. Some guests stayed the night, others only a day. All were impressed with the home and the grounds. Prairie House's kitchen was well stocked and the bed were comfortable. The upper level living area had a fireplace, piano, and great views. The lower level had a pool table/ping pong table. There were daily sightings of deer, Cranes, bald eagles and other wild life. Our dog loved the walks in the woods. A special thanks to Laurie for her thoughtfulness, birthday card, beautiful flowers, and Easter items. We hope to return when the weather is better and we can enjoy more of the outside amenities.

Our week at the Prairie House was wonderful! Super relaxing and full of family fun, it had everything our family of 7 adults and 2 children could possibly want- beautiful and relaxing views, a lake with boats included, walking paths through the prairie, and a quiet location no more than a 30 min. drive to Horicon Marsh, several small towns to explore, and Pikes Lake State Park. The house is lovely, and Laurie and Larry are solicitous hosts who have thought of just about everything. To say the kitchen is well stocked would be an understatement- there are lots of cooking utensils, pots and pans, storage containers, china, paper goods, and everything from olive oil and spices to microwave popcorn (bring lots of your own food- we enjoyed the house so much that we only went out to eat once :). No detail is overlooked at Prairie house, and we were happy to find safety gates (we used one out on the deck for the dogs, and one to block the inside stairs for our 2 yr. old), first aid supplies, a toy nook and bubbles for the little ones, bedside clocks in every bedroom, small personal fans, even a spare toothbrush! Laurie could give lessons on how to make guests feel at home :). Also have to mention what a great time we had birding, sometimes just by looking out the windows at the feeders :). We counted 47 species of birds, 40 on the first day, with only one migrant! It was awesome to see the kids watch the Bald Eagles fishing at the lake too (the eagles have no problem taking fish from Lake Sinissippi but if you want to fish, Pike Lake or similar is recommended). We had a great time- adults, kids, and dogs- and would love to do it again. Thank you Laurie and Larry- for your hospitality, for letting us raid your garden, and for the anniversary roses :).

"We just stayed at Prairie House for the second time. It is a beautiful home in an idyllic prairie setting. The house is extremely well equipped and has everything you could possibly need. We spent most of our time relaxing on the screened porch. It was great to get out on the lake in the canoes and kayaks. We went for a bird watching boat ride at the Horicon Marsh, and rented a pontoon boat on Lake Okauchee. The owners are wonderful to deal with! This home is a real gem!"

The listing information was entirely accurate, and the experience of staying at the Prairie House was exceptional. We were a group of 5 couples who were in the area for 5 days volunteering to help build a house with Habitat for Humanity. Our days were full of hard physical work, and it was such a joy to return at the end of the day to this clean, spacious, tasteful, and very comfortable home for relaxation, refreshment and camaraderie. The lovely setting, on a hill in the midst of a blooming prairie and overlooking the lake in the distance, provided expansive views, sounds of water birds, trails to meander, kayaks and canoes, and many comfortable places for conversation or to listen to the sounds of nature. The home itself was tastefully decorated and so inviting. The spacious kitchen was remarkably well-equipped, and the large dining table easily accommodated all of our group in a room with a lovely view. The owner was very available and welcoming before and during our visit, and provided an excellent orientation to the house and the property. There were even fresh flowers from the garden in nearly every room. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that staying at the Prairie House will provide you with beautiful memories. We hope to have a reason to return!

“A beautiful home on a windswept prairie hillside. A place full of color, the sound of distant geese, and the flights of eagles. For those who appreciate such things, this home on Lake Sinissippi is unmatched. The accommodations are excellent, the view is spectacular, the home warm and welcoming and full of unexpected touches which make the experience that much more special. Peaceful and serene but also full of nearby opportunities to hike, explore, canoe, and shop (if that is more to your taste). Highly recommended!”

"Prairie House is gorgeous and serene - the ultimate in comfort. This was our second stay and we all said a little "ahhh..." when we walked in. It has everything: large screened porch, great kitchen big enough for several cooks at once, living room with comfy chairs, gaming tables (cards and table tennis), deck with a nearly 360 view of the area, and beautiful grounds. Lots of recreation possibilities including canoeing. Very private and remote from neighboring homes, but grocery stores and other needs are just minutes away. We watched fledgling eagles and flocks of white pelicans through a telescope and listened to bullfrogs humming at night. It would be hard to imagine a more relaxing setting."

"What can we say? The serenity of this place has helped us slow down, and catch our breath. The prairie, the woods, and the lake are beautiful! We saw a red-tailed hawk right outside the window at breakfast, and enjoyed watching the eagles. The house is so well designed and comfortable. Thanks, Larry, for answering our many questions. The garden vegetables were delicious. Thanks, Laurie, for sharing them. We loved the hot tub and the reading nook. We enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and taking beautiful photographs.
